About

Hi, I'm Chris Harrison.

I've spent more than 40 years behind the camera, and the Big Horn Basin is home.

I live in the mountains near the Wyoming and Montana line, close to Devils Canyon, Porcupine Falls and the Bighorn range. That country is my studio. I know where the light lands in May and where it lands in October, and I'll get you there at the right minute.

My sessions are easygoing. No stiff poses, no rush. We walk, talk, and let the place do some of the work. You leave with photos that look like you on a really good day.

How I work

Every Wyoming Nomad session is just me and you. I plan the location with you, I scout the light, and I shoot every frame myself. After the session I edit every photo by hand. Your private gallery arrives in about two weeks, and every print is made by Miller's Professional Imaging, a lab I trust for true color.

I studied criminal justice and psychology at the University of Wyoming and history at Northwest College in Powell. The psychology part shows up more than you'd think. Most people are nervous in front of a camera. My job is to make you forget it's there.

Who I photograph

High school seniors who want something bolder than a school backdrop. Families who want one great photo of everybody, dog included. Couples, newborns, artists, ranchers, and anyone who needs a portrait that looks like them. See them all in the portfolio, or read about senior portraits and family photos.

Beyond portraits

When I'm not photographing people, I'm chasing landscapes. The northern lights over Bighorn Canyon, wild horses in the basin, storms over the Tetons. Those images are available as fine art prints. I also shoot high school and youth sports under my other studio, The Grindhouse Sports Photography.
